Shenandoah Speedway, 3/8th mile oval asphalt track located in Shenandoah, Virginia was the host of a very competitive Bandolero race on Saturday night.
Seven racers entered a very competitive bandolero division. AB Motorsports racer Jason Alder was the fastest in the second practice session with a laptime of 20.155 seconds. Jason went on to qualify second with a time of 20.144 seconds just behind driver, Connor Jones who was the only one to break the 20-second barrier and was scored with a 19.956 lap.
Starting on the outside pole in the feature race, Jason drifted back to third place after the first lap but was able to move back to second on the very next lap. Jason displayed a lot of patience as he closed the gap on first place. On lap 7 of the 20-lapper, Jason put the inside move on Cole Bruce, driver of the #31 bandolero and never looked back. A caution came out on lap 16 when #31 spun out. The restart on lap 17 was pivotal as Jason made a clean restart to maintain his lead but trouble for this feature was still ahead as a second caution came out on lap 18 when driver of the #27 bandolero, Daniel Silvestri ran into some trouble and spun out. With only two laps to go, Jason got another clean restart and led the field to the finish winning by a margin of 1.242 seconds over Payton Ferre, driver of the #23 bandolero and 1.369 seconds over driver Cole Bruce in the #31 bandolero.
This win was Jason Alder’s first career bandolero feature win. “I am very excited to win my first bandolero race. It feels good to win races in multiple racing series” said Jason Alder in a post-race interview. “Thanks to our sponsors Champion Spark Plugs, Hat Automotive, 2020 Teknology, and Boca Bearing Company for all of their support. I also appreciate all the work of our charity of choice, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation," said Alder.
The video of this race is posted on the ABMotorsports YouTube channel.
