Jason Alder of AB Motorsports traveled from Maryland to Charlotte Motor Speedway to participate in Round 1 of the INEX/US Legend Winter Heat Series. This year the series will be raced on the brand new 1/5 mile oval track located just outside of the backstretch of the main speedway.
“We had a great start to the day being the fastest in the first practice session and winning both the pole and the heat race” said Jason. “I felt really good about the feature and I knew it was going to be a dog fight between me, the #90 of Daniel Wilk and the #32 of Tristian Lesik.” Track conditions had changed throughout the day but during the feature race the sun was unexpectantly hot causing the track to lose a little of its grip and my bando was loose. Jason spun himself out on lap 4 while in P2 right behind the #90. After restarting last, Jason was able to work his way back up to a 3rd place finish.
Jason said, “I am very pleased with my weekend overall as I was racing against the reigning bandolero national champion and was able to race him hard. I am still learning the feel of these cars and I hope to get a couple feature wins during this series.”
The videos of both the heat and feature are posted on AB Motorsports YouTube channel here.
Jason’s next race will be Round 2 of the Winter Heat on January 9-10 which will be on the brand new road course which is located in the infield of the main track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
